100 economic opportunities for the development of the Moldova Region on the A7 Highway route
The Northern Regional Development Agency (ADR Nord) of the Republic of Moldova recently received a visit from the CAPDR delegation, led by President Ion Ștefanovici
The meeting marked a new step towards strengthening cross-border cooperation and identifying new common opportunities for regional development, in an increasingly dynamic European context.
Strengthening cross-border collaboration and attracting European funds
The agenda included essential topics for the future of regional development, among which the attraction of European funds and the development of joint projects between the Republic of Moldova and Romania stood out. Representatives of the two institutions analyzed ways in which they could contribute to better utilizing the resources available at the European Union level, taking into account the European aspirations of the Republic of Moldova and Romania’s experience in this field.
Thus, it was agreed on the need to reinforce existing collaborative relations through a more active inter-institutional partnership, which would facilitate the exchange of best practices, technical expertise, and the initiation of cross-border projects relevant to local communities.
Sustainable interregional partnerships between local administrations
A key aspect addressed during the meeting was supporting the development of new sustainable interregional partnerships between local public administrations in the Northern Development Region of the Republic of Moldova and those from various regions of Romania. CAPDR will play an active role in facilitating dialogue between authorities, encouraging joint projects that contribute to improving the quality of life for citizens on both sides of the Prut River.
These partnerships will be based on the real needs of communities, oriented towards economic, infrastructural, and social development, as well as strengthening cultural and educational cooperation.
Synergy with the Moldova Growth Plan
The initiatives discussed during this visit align directly with the objectives of the Moldova Growth Plan, launched by the national authorities of the Republic of Moldova for the period 2024–2028. This ambitious plan aims to reduce regional disparities, increase economic competitiveness, and improve the quality of life across all regions of the country. By leveraging cross-border partnerships, such as the one with CAPDR, the Northern Development Region positions itself as an active hub in implementing this plan, with real potential to attract investments and accelerate European integration.
Participation in the Moldova Regional Economic Forum 2025
Another central point of the discussion was the joint participation in the upcoming edition of the Moldova Regional Economic Forum, which will take place from 9–12 July 2025, in the resort town of Vatra Dornei, Romania. The event will be organized under the motto “From regional development to national prosperity!”, reflecting the goal of transforming regional policies into a driving force for sustainable development on a national scale.
ADR Nord reconfirms its commitment to be an active player in promoting regional cooperation and to contribute, through expertise and concrete initiatives, to the success of this forum that brings together decision-makers, investors, representatives of public administrations, and academia from both countries.
