Ion ȘTEFANOVICI: “PNL Suceava after Gheorghe Flutur’s withdrawal. Mrs. Angelica FĂDOR, what is the direction for the county?”

100 economic opportunities for the development of the Moldova Region on the A7 Highway route
Ion Stefanovici, President of CAPDR
PNL Suceava continues to undergo major changes after Ioan Bălan defeated Gheorghe Flutur, prompting him to resign
This leadership change opens a new chapter for county administration and raises the question: will this be a period of consolidation and political maturity, or will fragmentation continue?
In this context, in January 2024, Angelica Fădor was appointed interim president of PNL Suceava, and recently she was also designated as State Secretary in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This appointment raises the question: what concrete projects does PNL Suceava have for the county?
PNL Suceava: New leadership, but what strategy?
The internal victory of Deputy Ioan Bălan over Senator Gheorghe Flutur marks the end of an era and the beginning of a new direction for PNL Suceava. However, “internal adjustments” hold no significance for the citizens. What’s next for the county?
As President of CAPDR, I, Ion Stefanovici, expect development partners, political maturity, and continued support for the strategic projects of Suceava County and our Moldova Region. PNL must demonstrate that it is not limited to internal conflicts but has a clear vision for infrastructure development, attracting investments, and modernizing local administration.
What do we, at the level of the Regional Development Partnership, believe should follow for PNL Suceava?
🔹 Unity and coherence in county administration – PNL must move past internal disputes and focus on implementing policies that support economic growth and sustainable development.
🔹 Support for major infrastructure projects – The A7 Highway, railway modernization, and the development of Suceava Airport must be top priorities.
🔹 Investments and economic development – Mrs. Angelica Fădor, in her new role as State Secretary, has an important opportunity to support economic development and attract European funds for Suceava County. It remains to be seen what specific initiatives she will support in this regard.
🔹 A constructive relationship with civil society and the business environment – CAPDR and other local organizations are ready to collaborate to create a more competitive county, better connected to future economic opportunities.
Conclusion
Following Gheorghe Flutur’s departure, PNL Suceava must prove that it is capable of leading the county towards real development, not just engaging in internal competitions. I, Ion Stefanovici, expect concrete partnerships, maturity, and clear commitments for the future of Suceava County.
In her new position as State Secretary in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Angelica Fădor must take an active role in supporting Suceava County. We will be watching to see what concrete initiatives she will promote for the development of local administration and strategic county projects.
Suceava cannot afford four years of stagnation. It is time for actions, not just political promises.
Moreover, we must be aware that 2024 is shaping up to be a challenging economic year, with significant pressures on local administrations and the business sector. We at CAPDR have been warning about this difficult context since last year, while political parties were caught up in their electoral frenzy. Now, economic reality is catching up with us, and local administrations must demonstrate maturity and vision to tackle these challenges.
Last but not least, we urge political parties to support the projects of Suceava County Council. The county’s development should not be an electoral competition but a common priority for all political and administrative stakeholders.
