The Centre for Analysis and Planning of Regional Development (CAPDR), in partnership with the Chisinau Municipal Regional Development Agency, organized on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, at the Iași Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the joint activity entitled:
“Consultation of the business environment in defining RO–MD development strategies”, held within the framework of the Interreg NEXT Romania – Republic of Moldova 2021–2027 project
The event benefited from the support of the Trade and Economic Promotion Office of the Embassy of Romania in the Republic of Moldova, the Iași Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Association of Romanian Investors in the Republic of Moldova (AIR).
The working meeting aimed at strengthening structured dialogue between the economic environment and public authorities in Romania and the Republic of Moldova, by integrating the contributions of the private sector into the process of developing regional and interregional development strategies.
During the consultations, key areas essential for economic competitiveness and regional connectivity were addressed: investments, construction, energy, agriculture, logistics, IT, and HoReCa, as well as the identification of administrative barriers and the formulation of concrete solutions for strengthening public–private partnerships.
Through this meeting, CAPDR and its institutional partners aimed to consolidate an applied consultation mechanism capable of directly connecting relevant economic actors with regional planning structures in Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
The dialogue carried out within the consultations contributed to the formulation of concrete and actionable proposals, grounded in the experience and real needs of the private sector, as well as to the identification of common directions for economic cooperation and interregional development.
The participation of the business environment directly contributed to:
- formulating concrete proposals for development strategies;
- strengthening Romania – Republic of Moldova economic connections;
- developing joint initiatives and projects with interregional impact.
The conclusions of the meeting will be integrated by CAPDR into the proposals of the Sustainable Interconnection Program Romania – Republic of Moldova 2028–2034 (PISRM 2028–2034), a strategic document currently in the stage of consultation and interregional substantiation.
Message delivered by Alexandr Palariev, coordinator of the Frumushika Nova cluster: regional cooperation, resilience, and support for economic partnerships in the current context
Within the framework of the “Consultation of the business environment in defining RO–MD development strategies” meeting, organized in Iași under the Interreg NEXT Romania – Republic of Moldova 2021–2027 project, one of the interventions that highlighted the regional and strategic dimension of economic cooperation belonged to Alexandr Palariev, coordinator of the Frumushika Nova cluster in Ukraine.
His message emphasized the importance of maintaining dialogue and cooperation between Romania, the Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine, in a period marked by regional difficulties and challenges generated by the war in Ukraine. At the same time, his intervention highlighted the essential role of associative structures, the business environment, and institutional partnerships in supporting joint projects and interregional development.
Support from Romanian partners and strengthening regional cooperation
In his intervention, Alexandr Palariev expressed gratitude to the organizers and partners involved in the development of economic and institutional relations between the three states, highlighting in particular the consistent involvement in supporting joint initiatives and regional dialogue.
“First of all, I would like to thank Mr. Ștefanovici for the fact that his organization gives us so much attention and tries to support us in these difficult times,” said the coordinator of the Frumushika Nova cluster.
He stressed that events and cooperation platforms organized in Romania represent important opportunities for strengthening economic relations and for bringing institutional actors and the regional business environment closer together.
According to Alexandr Palariev, the support provided by Romanian partners is of major importance for maintaining regional connections and for developing projects capable of generating long-term economic and institutional impact.
Romania – a model of experience and European cooperation for the region
Another important aspect highlighted in the message delivered by the representative of the Frumushika Nova cluster was Romania’s accumulated experience in implementing European projects and in developing mechanisms for regional and cross-border cooperation.
“Romania has much more experience than the Republic of Moldova or Ukraine,” stated Alexandr Palariev, appreciating the expertise and institutional capacity developed within European processes and regional cooperation programs.
He emphasized that the transfer of experience and the openness demonstrated by Romanian organizations and institutions directly contribute to strengthening the cooperation and development capacity of partners in the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
At the same time, the coordinator of the Frumushika Nova cluster noted the importance of invitations extended to regional partners to participate in meetings and consultations organized in Romania, considering that such initiatives contribute to the development of a stable framework for economic and institutional cooperation.
“Mr. Ștefanovici always tries to help us, to invite us to the events taking place here in Romania,” he stated.
The war in Ukraine and the message of resilience conveyed to the regional economic environment
An important moment of Alexandr Palariev’s intervention was the message regarding the capacity for adaptation and resilience of the Ukrainian economic and associative environment in the context of the military conflict.
Despite the difficulties generated by the war, the representative of the Frumushika Nova cluster emphasized that the economic environment and organizations involved in regional cooperation projects continue their activities and further develop partnerships.
“The war is not an obstacle for us, as it makes us stronger and we are making a much greater effort than before,” said Alexandr Palariev.
His message highlighted that the current regional context has led to an even greater mobilization and involvement of Ukrainian economic and institutional actors in developing strong cooperation relations with partners in Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
At the same time, his statements reaffirmed the need to continue joint projects and regional initiatives capable of supporting economic stability, connectivity, and long-term development in the regional space.
The importance of the Iași meeting for relations between Romania, the Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine
Alexandr Palariev appreciated that the meeting organized in Iași represented a relevant framework for strengthening relations between economic and institutional actors in the region and for identifying common directions of cooperation.
According to him, the dialogue carried out within the consultations highlighted the importance of developing concrete cooperation mechanisms and communication platforms capable of directly connecting the private sector with regional planning and development structures.
“The respective event highlighted a very important moment of our cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova,” said the coordinator of the Frumushika Nova cluster.
He also conveyed a message of appreciation for the support and solidarity shown by partners involved in regional cooperation projects.

Regional cooperation – a strategic element for interregional development
The intervention of the representative of the Frumushika Nova cluster highlighted, overall, the need to strengthen economic and institutional relations between Romania, the Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine, especially in the context of current regional challenges.
The message delivered at the Iași meeting reaffirmed the importance of maintaining a permanent dialogue between the business environment, associative structures, and public authorities, as well as the need to develop common instruments for economic and strategic cooperation.
At the same time, Alexandr Palariev’s statements underlined the essential role of regional partnerships in supporting sustainable development, connectivity, and economic stability in the Romania – Republic of Moldova – Ukraine space, as well as the importance of continuing joint projects within European and interregional cooperation programs.
