Mayor of Hudești Commune, Dimitrie Cătălin Zlei: “We are involved in multiple projects and are open to all future collaborations”
At the Romania – Republic of Moldova – Ukraine Working Meeting, held at the Ștefănești Town Hall, Botoșani County, the mayor of Hudești Commune, Dimitrie Cătălin Zlei, highlighted the essential role of community collaboration in developing cross-border projects and ensuring their long-term continuity.
“I am the mayor of Hudești-Botoșani Commune, located approximately 80 kilometers away. For us as a community, such meetings are not new. I had the opportunity to meet partners we already collaborate with, as well as people I had not met before, including Mr. President,” the mayor emphasized, highlighting the importance of dialogue and experience exchange among local authorities in the region.
In his speech, Mayor Zlei mentioned ongoing projects in his commune, such as collaboration with Glodeni Commune for implementing a cross-border project in the field of emergency services (ISU).
“We are involved in multiple projects and are open to all future collaborations. It is essential that these projects are continued by those who come after us. Mayors are not eternal, but the continuity of projects and collaborations is key to community development,” the mayor stressed.
He added that attending the meeting, even after a busy day in Bucharest at the Ministry of Development, was an important opportunity:
“I am pleased to be here, even if I arrived a bit late. I thank my friend, Emilian Ivasuc, who contacted me and invited me to this meeting. Although we already collaborate with these communities, such events strengthen partnerships and open new perspectives for cooperation.”
The mayor also highlighted connections with communities in the Republic of Moldova, mentioning Sauca village:
“We are twinned with Sauca village in the Republic of Moldova, and I appreciate the collaboration of fellow mayors, such as Florin Buțura, who welcomed us with openness and support. Such relationships are fundamental for implementing joint projects and ensuring the sustainable development of the region.”
Through these statements, Dimitrie Cătălin Zlei conveyed a clear message about the importance of the continuity of community projects and cross-border partnerships: the success of local initiatives depends not only on the current leadership but also on the involvement of future leaders who will assume responsibility for implementing projects and maintaining already established collaborations.
Thus, the presence of the mayor of Hudești Commune at the Romania – Republic of Moldova – Ukraine Working Meeting – Ștefănești underscores his community’s commitment to building a sustainable cooperation network among local authorities in Romania, the Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine, opening new opportunities for cross-border projects for the benefit of citizens.
