Ion ȘTEFANOVICI, President of CAPDR: “Historical memory, respect for sacrifice, and cooperation among communities represent essential foundations for the future of the Romanian and European space.”

The President of the Center for Analysis and Regional Development Planning (CAPDR), Ion ȘTEFANOVICI, participated in Soroca, Republic of Moldova, in the events organized on the occasion of May 9, within a symbolic and deeply meaningful context connected to historical memory, solidarity among communities, and the strengthening of cooperation relations between Romania and the Republic of Moldova

The events brought together representatives of public administration, the associative sector, citizens, veterans, and members of the local community, in a moment of reflection on European history, the sacrifices of previous generations, and the present responsibility to build stability, cooperation, and regional development.

During the activities held in Soroca, Ion ȘTEFANOVICI took part in the flower-laying ceremony and commemorative moments dedicated to those who endured dramatic periods of European history. The atmosphere was marked by respect, balance, and closeness between generations, within a space carrying a special symbolic significance for cooperation in the wider Moldova region.

“Soroca and the Dniester River represent important landmarks in the architecture of the projects developed by CAPDR in the field of interregional cooperation. Beyond their historical symbolism, these spaces have the capacity to become connection points between communities, institutions, and generations that view development through dialogue, education, culture, and strategic partnerships,” stated Ion ȘTEFANOVICI.

Participation in the events held in Soroca is part of the broader effort to strengthen the relations developed by CAPDR in the Republic of Moldova through platforms such as VIA MOLDAVIA, EduCAPDR, and the CAPDR Cross-Border Cooperation Center Ștefănești – Soroca, initiatives aimed at creating a stable framework for collaboration between administrations, educational institutions, organizations, and the business environment in Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

The presence in Soroca also carried a profound human and community dimension, reflected in the dialogues held with participants, representatives of local authorities, and veterans attending the ceremonies.

In a space situated at the intersection of historical memory and new European realities, the message conveyed emphasized the importance of preserving identity, respecting the past, and building a generation oriented toward cooperation and development.

“The future is built through our ability to transform memory, experience, and the lessons of the past into responsibility, education, and concrete projects for future generations. Communities that preserve respect for history also strengthen their capacity to build strategically,” reiterated the President of CAPDR.

The events in Soroca reconfirmed the importance of the relationship between the communities on both sides of the Prut River and the necessity of developing permanent mechanisms for regional cooperation, within a European context that increasingly emphasizes connectivity, resilience, and functional partnerships between regions.
