CAPDR will be represented at the Symposium “Confucius and the Emergence of Contemporary China” by student Andreea Nicolaevici

During the period March 18–21, 2026, Ștefan cel Mare University of Suceava will host the Symposium “Confucius and the Emergence of Contemporary China”, an academic event dedicated to analyzing the evolution of modern China and the relevance of the Confucian tradition in contemporary society.

The event brings together researchers, academics, and specialists from various fields such as history, economics, philosophy, law, and cultural studies, within a framework of interdisciplinary dialogue and knowledge exchange.

Among the distinguished guests announced for the symposium are:

  • Viorica DĂNCILĂ, former Prime Minister of Romania, President of Casa România–China;

  • Andrei MARGA, university professor and former Minister of Education;

  • Ecaterina ANDRONESCU, university professor and former Minister of Education;

  • Adrian SEVERIN, university professor and former Deputy Prime Minister;

  • Alexandru MIRONOV, former minister and publication director;

  • Cornel NISTORESCU and Marius GHILEZAN, representatives of the journalistic community;

  • Viorel ISTICIOAIA-BUDURA and Pavel SUIAN, diplomats with experience in international relations;

  • Other recognized experts from the Romanian and Chinese academic environments.

The Center for Political Analysis and Regional Development (CAPDR) in Suceava will be represented at this event by Andreea Nicolaevici, a student of Ștefan cel Mare University of Suceava. Her presence highlights the organization’s interest in developing cultural and academic ties with China, as well as in strengthening expertise in relations between Asia and Central and Eastern Europe.

CAPDR already has experience in projects and collaborations with Chinese partners, reflected on its dedicated China – CEEC page, and participation in the symposium provides an opportunity to expand this network of contacts and knowledge. The main themes of the symposium include:

  • The relevance of Confucius’ thought in the contemporary context;

  • China’s role as a global actor in economy, technology, and culture;

  • Perspectives for academic and cultural cooperation between Romania, Central and Eastern Europe, and China.

The symposium represents a meeting point for the exchange of ideas and information among specialists interested in the dynamics of contemporary China and its international influence, as well as for strengthening academic relations between universities and cultural institutes in Romania and China.
