Modern infrastructure such as the A7 Highway will stimulate the expansion of trade in organic products to markets in Romania and Europe. Organic farmers in Moldova will have easier access to neighboring markets, and the ability to distribute organic products in a short time and at reduced costs will increase their attractiveness to European consumers. This will contribute to the growth of exports and the diversification of markets for Moldovan organic farmers.

How will this highway support the improvement of value chains and access to new markets for organic farmers?

The A7 Highway will enable organic farmers to access Romanian and European markets more quickly and efficiently. It will reduce transport time and costs, allowing farmers to deliver fresh and quality products. In addition, the creation of logistics hubs and collection centers along the highway will facilitate the aggregation and distribution of organic products to international markets. These improvements will contribute to the creation of a more efficient and competitive value chain for organic farming in Moldova.

What initiatives does the Public Association “Value Chain in Organic Agriculture” have to capitalize on the opportunities provided by the A7 Highway?

Our association is already working on developing strategic partnerships to support organic farmers in taking advantage of these new opportunities. We plan to promote the idea of creating logistics hubs for the collection and distribution of organic products along the highway. Quality infrastructure is essential for our farmers to compete successfully in the international market. Moreover, the ability to deliver fresh products in a short time will allow us to more easily capture the interest of consumers concerned with the quality and origin of their food.

Which sectors in organic agriculture will benefit most from this modern infrastructure?

The sectors that will benefit most are those related to the production of cereals, vegetables, fruits, oilseeds, and other organic crops. These are products in high demand on European markets, and fast and efficient transport infrastructure will help organic farmers increase their export capacity. The rural and ecological tourism sector will also benefit, attracting visitors who want to try authentic organic products and explore Moldova’s rural environment.

Do you have any suggestions for maximizing the positive impact of the A7 Highway on organic farming and the value chain?

To maximize the positive impact, I believe farmers should be encouraged to form cooperatives. This would increase their negotiating power and facilitate the sharing of logistical resources. Additionally, it would be beneficial to create standardized organic certification schemes and develop marketing campaigns to promote organic products on international markets. Furthermore, it is important that the development of the highway be carried out in a sustainable manner, protecting the environment and supporting the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices.
