“Presentation of Zenzia Glamping. Current Challenges in Neamț Tourism”
During Panel 7 – Tourism of the Regional Economic Forum Moldova (FERM), Dumitrița Luncanu, co-founder of Zenzia Glamping in Piatra Neamț, presented a fresh vision of sustainable tourism and how innovation can transform the travel experience.
Born in Farcașa, in the heart of the mountain region, Luncanu Dumitrița shared that she came “down along the Bistrița river” to Piatra Neamț, where life led her to develop a unique project in Romania. “Piatra Neamț chose me, I didn’t choose it,” she said, emphasizing the “fantastic” tourist potential of the city and its surroundings.
A British Concept Adapted to Romanian Specifics
The Zenzia Glamping project brings to Romania the concept of “glamorous camping”, born in the United Kingdom, combining the comfort of a hotel with closeness to nature. In Piatra Neamț, this concept materialized through eight spherical “geodome” structures, each 30 sqm, placed in a quiet area with enough distance to ensure guests’ privacy.
These accommodation units are equipped with air conditioning and multiple heating sources, designed to operate all year round.
“Winter is a challenge, but the domes are prepared to offer comfort, even if the experience differs from a classic hotel stay.”
European Certification for Eco-Responsible Tourism
A source of pride for the Zenzia Glamping team is obtaining the EU Eco-Label certification, which attests to the commitment to sustainable practices.
“We are the first client in the country certified with EU Eco-Label and the third accommodation unit nationwide with this distinction.”
For her, sustainability is not just a modern concept, but a natural approach to rural tourism.
“It means respect for nature, involvement of the local community, and responsible use of resources so that the destination remains attractive for years to come.”
Slow Living and Slow Travel – The New Rhythm of Tourism
The project promotes a relaxed travel style, disconnected from urban hustle, encouraging tourists to discover slow living and slow travel.
“Modern tourists, especially foreigners, seek unique and authentic experiences. We must take steps beyond our comfort zone.”
Additionally, the facility has a limited access policy for children under 14, to maintain a calm and peaceful atmosphere.
“It’s not that we don’t like children – we love them – but this type of experience is discovered in silence.”
A Dream Started in 2016
Zenzia Glamping is a family project, envisioned in 2016 and effectively started in 2018, requiring perseverance, investment, and total involvement.
“Tourism requires passion and work, but you know this better than I do, because many of you have reshaped the hospitality industry over the last 20 years,” said Dumitrița Luncanu, addressing an audience of professionals in the field.
Conclusion
Dumitrița Luncanu’s presentation at FERM 2025 offered a clear and inspirational perspective on how modern tourism can be both sustainable and innovative, emphasizing authentic experiences and connection with nature. The Zenzia Glamping project is a concrete example of entrepreneurship that leverages local resources, respects the environment, and involves the community, showing that high-quality rural tourism is not just recreation, but also a driver of economic and cultural development for the entire region.
This approach highlights the importance of creativity and the courage to step out of the comfort zone, attracting educated and engaged tourists eager to discover unique and memorable experiences. Moreover, the EU Eco-Label certification confirms that sustainable practices are not just a trend, but a strategic direction that ensures the preservation of natural beauty and cultural heritage for future generations.
