FERM 2025 | Interview with Roman BOCA, founder of Dorna Medical: “The Moldova region urgently needs infrastructure – both road and healthcare”

100 economic opportunities for the development of the Moldova Region on the A7 Highway route
Forumul Economic Regional Moldova (FERM) 2025, held from July 9 to 13 in Vatra Dornei, was the scene of an extensive dialogue on health, infrastructure, and regional development.
Among the actively involved participants was Roman Boca, founder of the Dorna Medical network, who, during Panel 6: Health, advocated for coherent and consistent investments in the healthcare and road infrastructure of the northeastern region.
A forum needed at a critical moment for health
In an interview given at the end of the event, Roman Boca emphasized the importance of this regional initiative.
“It is an extremely important event. It is an economic forum for the Moldova region. There was a debate regarding the healthcare system in Moldova, but also on Romania’s healthcare system.”
The founder of Dorna Medical noted the active participation of key figures from the medical and institutional sectors, who presented both the strengths of the system and the persistent dysfunctions.
Discussions also focused on the challenges in the coming period, a “complex and complicated time for the healthcare system”, as Boca pointed out. Nevertheless, he remains optimistic.
“We will certainly find solutions together, and everything that was said here will, I believe, be presented at the decision-making forums at the Ministry of Health, the National Health Insurance House, and other institutions responsible for healthcare decisions.”
Dorna Medical – strategic partner and local symbol of success
Roman Boca highlighted Dorna Medical’s active involvement in the event.
“Dorna Medical was actively involved and was a partner of this regional economic forum held in this area, especially since Dorna Medical started from this city and expanded throughout the entire northern region of the country.”
Originating from Vatra Dornei, the Dorna Medical group has become a model of regional medical development, managing to create an extensive network of diagnostic and treatment services in the north of the country. Participation as a partner in FERM 2025 underlines the company’s commitment to the development of the community from which it originated.
A region with potential but still “underserved in investments”
When asked if the discussions at the Forum could produce concrete effects in the near future, Roman Boca answered firmly in the affirmative, arguing based on the acute needs of the northeastern region.
“The northeastern area has a problem, primarily with infrastructure and development. It has been a region underserved by major investments, here I am referring to large infrastructure – highways, connections, and links between cities that should have been developed much faster.”
The founder of Dorna Medical also highlighted shortcomings in healthcare infrastructure, still far behind other regions of Romania. Although investment pace has increased in recent years, gaps persist, and Moldova needs an integrated strategy that also includes its tourism potential and recovery opportunities.
“This area deserves more investments, especially since the region I am speaking from, Bucovina, has an extraordinary tourist potential for citizens’ recreation, health recovery, and solving health issues in the healthcare institutions of the Moldova region.”
Conclusion: investment, collaboration, and vision
Roman Boca’s presence at FERM 2025 was not merely symbolic but represented the voice of a company that has demonstrated, through actions, that investing in healthcare is possible even in an underfunded region. His call for solidarity, vision, and collaboration among the private sector, authorities, and civil society aligns with the Forum’s stated mission: creating a framework for dialogue and action for the development of the Moldova region.
Events like FERM 2025 offer a rare platform to express real problems and shape sustainable solutions. In this context, Roman Boca’s voice is one that deserves to be heard – not only as an entrepreneur but as an active participant in transforming healthcare in Romania.
