FERM 2024 | Message from the Mayor of Bănești Commune, Telenești District, Alina Pascaru

100 economic opportunities for the development of the Moldova Region on the A7 Highway route
After the conclusion of the 18th edition of the Regional Economic Forum of Moldova, held from July 4 to 6, 2024, in Vatra Dornei, the Center for Regional Development Analysis and Planning (CAPDR) initiated a process of collecting feedback from participants, aiming to assess the impact and usefulness of the event.
In this regard, a set of three essential questions was formulated, intended to provide a clear perspective on the benefits gained by participants and to identify their needs for future editions of the Forum.
The first question focuses on the overall assessment of the usefulness of attending the Moldova Regional Economic Forum 2024, asking participants to describe the new information or relationships gained and explain how they plan to apply these in the development of the communities they represent. This reflects the organizers’ interest in understanding the direct impact of the event on regional development and local initiatives.
The second question focuses on identifying the type of support or resources that participants would find useful from the organizers to support their regional development efforts. Through this question, CAPDR aims to improve the quality and relevance of the support offered in future editions of the Forum.
In the context of the decision to hold all future editions of the Forum exclusively in Vatra Dornei, under the name “Moldova Regional Economic Forum from Vatra Dornei,” participants were also asked whether they are interested in attending the 19th edition, in 2025, and what suggestions they have for improving the event. This question aims to involve participants in the planning and optimization process of the Forum, ensuring active participation and increased relevance of the event.
These questions reflect CAPDR’s effort to align the Moldova Regional Economic Forum with long-term strategic objectives, in the context of regional development and European integration, with 2030 as a reference horizon.
The Mayor of BĂNEȘTI Commune, TELENEȘTI District, Alina PASCARU
How do you perceive the usefulness of your participation in the Moldova Regional Economic Forum 2024? What new information or relationships have you gained, and how do you intend to apply them in the development of the community you represent?
I would like to start by thanking the organizers for their consistent openness towards us, the mayors from the Republic of Moldova, regarding our European journey and the transformation of our communities into ones aligned with European values. Being in my first term as mayor, I have benefited from the knowledge and experiences of colleagues from Romania, which helped me better understand European mechanisms and access European Union funds. I discussed with colleagues about the advantages of European integration for the country and our communities. It is essential to launch an organic communication process so that correct information about the European Union reaches every citizen.
What kind of support or resources would you like to receive from the Forum organizers to support your regional development efforts?
I have prioritized establishing relationships between the mayors of Romania and the Republic of Moldova, identifying new mechanisms for community development and European integration, benefiting from the unconditional support of Romania. We have created numerous communication channels with colleagues from Romania, and I believe this is the right direction during this crucial period for the Republic of Moldova.
I would like to continue training sessions and the exchange of best practices regarding the implementation and attraction of European funds. It is essential to strengthen ties and develop our communities. I am confident that new ideas for joint projects will emerge, aimed at improving the lives of citizens in both countries.
Are you interested in attending the 19th edition, in 2025, and what suggestions do you have for improving the event?
I respectfully thank you for the opportunity to participate! I am still interested in contributing and attending the next Regional Economic Forum, given its relevance to economic development and regional cooperation.
