The role and facilities of Free Economic Zones

Natalia Iepuraș offered clarifications about the nature of free economic zones: „You may wonder what free economic zones are, so I briefly clarify that they are areas economically separated from the rest of the Republic of Moldova, where domestic and foreign economic agents or investors are offered preferential conditions for their entrepreneurial activities.” The facilities and advantages offered include tax and customs benefits, although European legislation may reduce these benefits.

Natalia Iepuraș emphasized the importance of these facilities for investors: „These facilities are important for the investors who chose to invest with us, and as discussed many times, we must understand their expectations. It is essential to negotiate and support the business environment to assist and develop production in the Republic of Moldova.”

Collaboration with RDAs

Natalia Iepuraș highlighted the close collaboration with RDAs through Local Public Authorities (LPAs): „I would like to thank our RDA colleagues for the beautiful collaboration we have through the LPAs.” This collaboration has enabled the necessary funding for essential infrastructure to attract investors.

The Ungheni FEZ Administrator announced plans to collaborate with the Central RDA for the subzone in Călărași: „This year, we will reach out to the Central RDA. I mention that I have seen their projects and will particularly focus on the subzone in Călărași.” Natalia Iepuraș emphasized the importance of partner support in securing the necessary funding, acknowledging that local administrations do not have full financial capacity to implement the required projects.
