About the Gagauzia Development Region
Tatiana Donceva began by providing an overview of the Gagauzia region, located in southern Moldova. „Our region is small in the context of Moldova. The Gagauzia Development Region is located in southern Moldova and has a population of approximately 140,000 people”, Donceva highlighted. The region includes three districts: Comrat, Ceadâr-Lunga, and Vulcănești, totaling 26 localities.
RDA Gagauzia’s activities
Donceva emphasized that RDA Gagauzia has been operating for only 8 years, during which it has aligned its activities with national regional development strategies. „Our activities are in line with the National Regional Development Strategies, we have our own personal program, and we have developed 5 Regional Sector Programs with the support of development partners”, explained the Director of RDA Gagauzia.
Project implementation focuses on economic development, business and tourism infrastructure support, urban infrastructure, and energy efficiency of public buildings, in line with the National Urban Development Program.
Investment projects and international collaborations
Donceva mentioned a major investment project for the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant in the city of Comrat, funded by the World Bank. „Additionally, a significant investment project is being implemented in the region for the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant, which is greatly needed in the city of Comrat, funded by the World Bank”, Donceva noted.
Support and continuous learning
Tatiana Donceva highlighted the support provided by partners from Romania, Poland, and Germany to enhance employee skills for regional development. „Our partners from Romania, Poland, and Germany are providing support to enhance employee skills for regional development”, stated the Director of RDA Gagauzia. In conclusion, Donceva acknowledged that RDA Gagauzia is still at the beginning of its journey and expressed a desire to learn from colleagues and development partners: „We are still at the beginning. We have much to learn from our colleagues and development partners.”
