Maria Prisacari’s Message – Director of ADR North: “We provide support and place significant importance on the development of cities as growth poles through urban revitalization programs”
At the “Investment Panel” of the 2024 Regional Economic Forum Moldova, Maria Prisacari, Director of the Regional Development Agency (ADR) North, provided a clear and detailed overview of the concept of regional development and its impact on improving the quality of life in all regions of the Republic of Moldova.
In this context, Maria Prisacari noted that „ADR North, the management institution of the Northern Development Region, covers one-third of the territory of the Republic of Moldova, having been established in 2009.” The Agency works closely with local public authorities and other regional stakeholders to add value and improve the quality of life for residents in the region.
Development programs and projects
The Director of the Regional Development Agency (ADR) North emphasized the importance of dialogue platforms between the key players in the field of regional development to improve the quality of life for residents in the regions of the Republic of Moldova.
The Director of ADR North stressed that regional development is a priority for the Republic of Moldova, and according to her: „Together with central, local, and regional public authorities, through a participatory effort, we contribute to improving the quality of life for residents in the regions of the Republic of Moldova through Regional Development Programs and specific projects.”
Maria Prisacari highlighted the support of development partners, especially Romania, which has enabled significant changes in the field of regional development. „Thanks to the support of development partners, significant changes have occurred in the field of regional development in recent years, in terms of the strategic and legislative framework.” These changes included the approval of amendments to the law on regional development and the Government Decision on the implementation of this law, as well as the development of a new regional development strategy until 2028.
Maria Prisacari mentioned the implementation of the growth poles policy and the National Local Development Program “European Village.” „All these contribute to the implementation of various projects, starting with the water and sewerage sector and continuing with strategic areas such as business support infrastructure and tourism.” The national regional development strategy until 2028 is based on a new development paradigm focused on competitiveness.
Supporting cohesion and urban infrastructure development
The Director of ADR North emphasized the importance of urban development as growth poles through urban revitalization programs. “We provide support and place significant importance on the development of cities as growth poles through urban revitalization programs.” She also noted the attention given to areas such as water and sewerage, sanitation, energy efficiency in public buildings, and other needs.
The Director of ADR North, Maria Prisacari, highlighted ADR North’s openness to facilitating dialogue between partners from Romania and local public authorities, the business community, and research. „We are open to facilitating dialogue between partners from Romania and local public authorities on both sides of the Prut, as well as with the business and research community.”
