A striking example of this success is the project Emergency Medical Care for Children in the Cross-Border Region.”

Project Objectives

The main objectives of the project were to improve the infrastructure and equipment for the two partner hospitals, enhance the professional skills of medical staff, and introduce cross-border telemedicine. The ultimate goal was to increase the accessibility of emergency medical care for children in the cross-border region and improve the quality of medical services provided.

Cross-border collaboration allows us to share resources and knowledge, thus improving the quality of medical services for all children in the region”, declared Ingrid Bucșă.

Remarkable Results

The results achieved from the implementation of the project were impressive. The direct benefits of the improved health services reached approximately 1,598,000 people. Additionally, the project included the rehabilitation and equipping of a medical unit, as well as training for 72 medical staff from Romania and Ukraine.

Impact on Target Groups

The target groups of the project included approximately 313,000 children from the Chernivtsi and Suceava regions, along with the 72 representatives of the medical staff.

“By implementing telemedicine at the local and cross-border level, the project contributed to enhancing the quality of medical services in the long term. This technological innovation enables specialists to collaborate more effectively, provide remote consultations, and respond quickly to medical emergencies,” explained Ingrid Bucșă.

Telemedicine: A Step Forward

The introduction of telemedicine was one of the project’s strengths. It significantly improved access to specialized medical services, reducing waiting times and travel-related costs. Patients from rural and isolated areas benefited from high-quality consultations and treatments without needing to travel to urban centers.

“Telemedicine has allowed us to overcome geographical barriers and provide emergency medical care to children from both regions”, stated the head of the Interreg NEXT Romania-Ukraine Joint Secretariat.

Conclusion

The project Emergency Medical Care for Children in the Cross-Border Region demonstrates how cross-border collaboration and the use of modern technologies can bring significant improvements to the health sector. The best practices and results achieved highlight the importance of strategic partnerships for developing high-quality medical services accessible to all. The continuation of these initiatives will contribute to a more robust and efficient health system, benefiting both children and communities across the region.
