THEME: „Mental health in a cross-border context”

Valentin Ioan Stan, Manager of Vatra Dornei Municipal Hospital, highlighted during his presentation at the „Health Panel” the importance of the hospital as an essential healthcare center for the community and detailed the completed and ongoing projects that contribute to the continuous development of the institution.

The role and capacity of Vatra Dornei Municipal Hospital

Vatra Dornei Municipal Hospital is a public utility healthcare facility with inpatient beds that provides preventive and curative medical care for both inpatients and outpatients. „The hospital serves a population of approximately 42,040 inhabitants, covering cases from ten communes and towns in the Dornelor Basin, as well as more than 100,000 tourists annually” said Valentin Ioan Stan. With a capacity of 183 beds for continuous hospitalization, 25 beds for day hospitalizations, and 10 beds for accompanying persons, the hospital fulfills its role as an essential medical center in the region.

Completed projects and notable achievements

During the Forum, the hospital manager presented the institution’s recent achievements: „Among the completed projects are the rehabilitation of the Obstetrics-Gynecology Department, with a total value of 1,986,168 lei, and the modernization and equipping of the outpatient department, including the purchase of medical equipment, with a value of 13,230,307.86 lei.” Additionally, the hospital received funding of 8,610,949.79 lei for protecting the population’s health in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and developed institutional capacity for palliative and home care.

These projects have significantly impacted the improvement of the medical services offered by the hospital and have contributed to increasing the quality of healthcare in the region.

Ongoing projects and future initiatives

Valentin Ioan Stan also highlighted the ongoing projects aimed at continuing the hospital’s development. Among these is the project to reduce the risk of nosocomial infections, with a value of 15,031,554.81 lei, intended for the purchase of equipment and materials for infection prevention. „Other initiatives include family planning clinics, an important project for improving reproductive health, and the modernization of IT systems and digital infrastructure, with a value of 2,935,766.30 lei, which includes implementing the eHealth and telemedicine system”, said Ioan Stan. Additionally, a feasibility study is underway for the expansion and construction of a new hospital wing, which will bring significant improvements in the hospital’s capacity and the quality of medical services.
