FERM 2024 | Message from the Mayor of Călărași, Victor AMBROCI

100 economic opportunities for the development of the Moldova Region on the A7 Highway route
After the completion of the 18th edition of the Moldova Regional Economic Forum, held from July 4-6, 2024, in Vatra Dornei, the Center for Regional Development Analysis and Planning (CAPDR) initiated a feedback collection process from participants, aiming to assess the impact and usefulness of the event
In this context, a set of three essential questions was formulated, aimed at providing a clear perspective on the benefits gained by participants and identifying their needs for future editions of the Forum.
The first question concerns the overall evaluation of the usefulness of attending the Moldova Regional Economic Forum 2024, asking participants to describe the new information or relationships gained and explain how they plan to apply them in the development of the communities they represent. This reflects the organizers’ interest in understanding the direct impact of the event on regional development and local initiatives.
The second question focuses on identifying the type of support or resources that participants would find useful from the organizers to support their regional development efforts. Through this question, CAPDR aims to improve the quality and relevance of the support provided in future editions of the Forum.
In the context of the decision to hold all future editions of the Forum exclusively in Vatra Dornei, under the name “Moldova Regional Economic Forum in Vatra Dornei,” participants were also asked if they are interested in attending the 19th edition, in 2025, and what suggestions they have for improving the event. This question aims to engage participants in the planning and optimization process of the Forum, ensuring active participation and increased relevance of the event.
These questions reflect CAPDR’s efforts to align the Moldova Regional Economic Forum with long-term strategic objectives in the context of regional development and European integration, with the year 2030 as a reference horizon.
Mayor of Călărași, Victor AMBROCI
What do you consider to be the usefulness of your participation in the Moldova Regional Economic Forum 2024? What new information or relationships did you gain, and how do you plan to apply them in the development of the community you represent?
Participation in the Moldova Regional Economic Forum 2024, held in the heart of Bucovina, was extremely valuable for the development of the community I represent. Among the essential aspects that highlight the usefulness of this event are, first and foremost, the forum’s agenda, the quality of the speakers, and the location, all being of the highest standards.
Participants had the freedom to choose the panels that interested them and actively engage in discussions with partners from Romania, guests, and invitees. These meetings opened up new collaboration opportunities for our local projects, facilitating the creation of a valuable network of contacts that can support the development initiatives of the communities we represent.
I had the opportunity to learn strategies for attracting investors, developing infrastructure, and improving public services, and Romania’s experience is extremely relevant to us, considering cross-border projects, the possibility of concluding twinning and cooperation agreements, as well as shared traditions, customs, and history. The visit to the tourist destinations in the area, implemented with the support of the European Union, is an additional source of motivation for us, the mayors of the Republic of Moldova, in our desire to access European projects.
What type of support or resources would you like to receive from the Forum organizers to support your regional development efforts?
To effectively support regional development efforts, it would be extremely valuable to receive continued support and resources that facilitate access to funds for economic and infrastructure development. We rely on valuable advice regarding best practices, which can significantly improve the efficiency of our initiatives.
Another essential type of support would be the organization of training sessions in areas such as project management, economic development, investor attraction, and the efficient use of available resources. We would also appreciate support in promoting the city of Călărași as an attractive destination for investors and tourists, including through promotional campaigns and participation in international fairs and exhibitions. Access to lessons learned from other regions would allow us to accelerate and improve the development process of the city of Călărași.
Are you interested in attending the 19th edition in 2025, and what suggestions do you have for improving the event?
I am very interested in participating in the 19th edition of the Moldova Regional Economic Forum, given that the previous participation was extremely valuable. I am convinced that the next forum will bring even more benefits. It would be opportune to address topics such as digitalization, sustainability, and the green economy, to better prepare us for future challenges and opportunities.
