Cristian Leon Țurcanu, the Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Moldova, spoke about the importance of regional cooperation, Romania’s role in ensuring Chișinău’s energy security, as well as Moldova’s agricultural and culinary potential.

H.E. Cristian Leon ȚURCANU: “Cities and regions are the engines of societal development and cooperation across the Prut River banks”
The Romanian Ambassador in Chișinău emphasized the special value of such a dialogue platform:
“This Forum has a very important tradition and brings together representatives from all areas of life: administration, politics, health, culture, and very importantly, the economic sector. I am convinced that events like this create and strengthen durable ties, guarantees of dynamic development between Romania and the Republic of Moldova.”
The extensive presence of delegations from both countries, as well as from Ukraine, reinforces the strategic role of the Moldova Region as a platform for regional and international cooperation.
Romania, guarantor of energy security for the Republic of Moldova
Asked about the statement of the Moldovan Ambassador to Bucharest, Victor Chirilă, according to whom Romania is the guarantor of energy security for the Republic of Moldova, H.E. Cristian Leon Țurcanu confirmed this reality and offered clear explanations:
“This result was achieved through a lot of work, dedication, and substantial investments. Romania supports the citizens of the Republic of Moldova unconditionally, honestly, and concretely, in almost all fields. Energy security is vital for the entire society and economy, and in the context of hybrid attacks coming from the Russian Federation, Bucharest acted naturally, with responsibility.”
This support is not limited only to the energy sector but is part of a broader strategic partnership, in which Romania has become a pillar of stability and solidarity for the Republic of Moldova.
The Republic of Moldova, a huge potential in agriculture and gastronomy
Within FERM, the “Taste of Moldova” Fair was promoted, an initiative dedicated to valorizing local products and expanding the market for small producers from the Republic of Moldova. Asked what delicious things Moldova could bring to Romania, the ambassador was categorical:
“Many things – from agricultural products to other types of food products. Moldova has a rich culinary tradition and exceptional products, recognized even in the European Union markets. Managing to conquer this market with local products is a remarkable achievement.”
The ambassador also shared his favorite snack: “Walnuts – the best walnuts I have ever eaten.”
Active diplomacy for deep and sustainable cooperation
The participation of the Romanian ambassador at FERM 2025 consolidates Bucharest’s strategic direction to firmly and consistently support the European integration process of the Republic of Moldova, as well as all regional initiatives that can generate economic progress and social cohesion.
In an unstable geopolitical landscape, Romania assumes the role of a trusted partner, dialogue facilitator, and vector of stability in the region.
Conclusion
The Moldova Regional Economic Forum is not just a symbolic event but a genuine working platform for the future. Through the intervention of H.E. Cristian Leon Țurcanu, Romania reaffirmed its commitment to the sustainable development of the region, for a Moldova anchored in the European space and supported by concrete partnerships.
