Ion ȘTEFANOVICI, CAPDR: “The 2025–2026 winter season opens in Moldova through the regional tourism program – Via Moldavia.”

Mesaje publice
The 2025–2026 winter season opens for the Moldova Region under the sign of authentic tourism, carefully preserved traditions, and events that bring people together
As President of CAPDR – the Center for Regional Development Analysis and Planning – I initiated the Via Moldavia program out of the belief that the villages and towns of Moldova deserve a place on the map and in the hearts of travelers. Via Moldavia is the way we bring to light the beauty of winter lived here: welcoming people, warm homes, customs, gastronomy, and experiences that stay in memory.
Moldova has the gift of offering in winter a kind of peace that few places still preserve. Here, snow settles over the villages the way time settles over traditions – gently.
Guesthouses and inns across the region prepare the fire in the stove, the sweet bread in the oven, the rich meals, carols, and evenings spent in warmth alongside family or friends. Romanian and foreign tourists discover a different rhythm of the holidays – calmer, more meaningful, more human.
The Via Moldavia program, developed by CAPDR and editorially supported by News Moldova and Moldova Invest, officially opens today the 2025–2026 winter tourism campaign for the entire Moldova Region and the Republic of Moldova
We aim to connect places, hosts, guesthouses, hotels, restaurants, local action groups, and events into a coherent network where the traveler finds not just a destination, but a complete experience.
The routes begin in the Carpathian Mountains and reach the Dniester River, then descend toward the Danube Delta and the Black Sea, to Odesa – three tourist routes: North, Center, and South, to be launched progressively starting in 2026.
I firmly believe that each community has its own story, and winter becomes the perfect moment to tell it. Some localities prepare events, others showcase local gastronomy, and others bring tourists together around traditions – all become bridges between people. Every guesthouse, cabin, or traditional home is a small universe where the visitor can truly “experience” Moldova.
In the coming period, the Via Moldavia program will publish destination presentations, messages from mayors, travel recommendations, winter packages, photos, and stories from communities. I invite all hosts, guesthouse managers, restaurant owners, local producers, event organizers, and local administrations to be an active part of this opening of the season.
Moldova has beauty, warmth, and hospitality. It has a path to share with the world.
Via Moldavia is the beginning of this path.
Ion ȘTEFANOVICI,
President of CAPDR
