After the 18th edition of the Moldova Regional Economic Forum, held between July 4-6, 2024, in Vatra Dornei, the Center for Regional Development Analysis and Planning (CAPDR) initiated a process of collecting feedback from participants to evaluate the impact and usefulness of the event

In this regard, a set of three essential questions was formulated, aimed at providing a clear perspective on the benefits gained by the participants and identifying their needs for future editions of the Forum.

The first question focuses on the overall assessment of the usefulness of attending the 2024 Moldova Regional Economic Forum, asking participants to describe the new information or relationships gained and explain how they plan to apply these in the development of the communities they represent. This reflects the organizers’ interest in understanding the direct impact of the event on regional development and local initiatives.

The second question focuses on identifying the type of support or resources that participants would consider useful from the organizers to support their regional development efforts. Through this question, CAPDR aims to improve the quality and relevance of the support offered at future editions of the Forum.

In the context of the decision to hold all future editions of the Forum exclusively in Vatra Dornei, under the name “Moldova Regional Economic Forum in Vatra Dornei”, participants were also asked if they are interested in attending the 19th edition in 2025 and what suggestions they have for improving the event. This question aims to involve participants in the planning and optimization process of the Forum, thereby ensuring active participation and increased relevance of the event.

These questions reflect CAPDR’s efforts to align the Moldova Regional Economic Forum with long-term strategic objectives, in the context of regional development and European integration, with 2030 as a reference horizon.

How would you assess the usefulness of your participation in the 2024 Moldova Regional Economic Forum? What new information or relationships have you gained, and how do you plan to apply them in the development of the community you represent?

As the mayor of Mănoilești Commune, Ungheni District, I would like to express my gratitude to the Center for Regional Development Analysis and Planning and the Suceava County Council for the opportunity to participate in the 2024 Moldova Regional Economic Forum, under the theme “Planning and Cooperation on the Strategic Objective: Moldova 2030”.

This forum brought together business leaders, diplomatic representatives at local, regional, and international levels, as well as representatives of local public administrations from both levels I and II in Romania, the Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine. During the event, I participated in discussions on the directions and strategies for regional development until 2030, having the opportunity to learn and be inspired by best practices and valuable experiences in the fields of economic infrastructure, health, and tourism, relevant to the Southeastern Europe region.

During the visit, I had a constructive discussion with Mrs. Maria Jijie, Mayor of Răuseni Commune, Botoșani County. In this discussion, we addressed the priorities and strategic development objectives of the authorities we represent and agreed on signing a cooperation agreement, aimed at strengthening the friendship ties between Răuseni and Mănoilești communes, regarding joint cultural, sports, youth, and educational programs.

Additionally, I discussed with Mr. Daniel George Surdu, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Development, Public Works, and Administration, about cross-border projects and the European vision of neighborhood programs funded by European funds. This Forum provided a valuable platform for discussions and exchanges of ideas, which will contribute to the economic development of our regions.

What type of support or resources would you like to receive from the Forum organizers to support your regional development efforts?

In the context of current challenges and opportunities regarding regional development, identifying the appropriate resources and support becomes essential for the success of local initiatives. Therefore, we wanted to explore what forms of support are considered most valuable by regional leaders in the Republic of Moldova.

• Facilitating opportunities to attract foreign investments through cross-border projects.
• Support in creating partnerships and collaborations with local administrative units (LAUs) from Romania and the Republic of Moldova that would contribute to investments with a significant impact on the development of economic infrastructure, rural tourism, and improving the living standards of citizens by creating jobs.
• Facilitating dialogue between the public and private sectors to develop partnerships that support the implementation of infrastructure, education, culture projects, and other essential initiatives for economic development.

Are you interested in attending the 19th edition in 2025, and what suggestions do you have for improving the event?

I am interested and would gladly participate in the 19th edition of the 2025 Moldova Regional Economic Forum.

I would like more representatives of local public authorities from Romania, especially mayors, to be invited to the Forum for an exchange of experiences and the promotion of best practices from Romania to ensure the sustainable development of regions through joint projects that attract external investments.

I express my gratitude and thank you once again for the opportunity to participate as a mayor in this very important Forum for supporting the economic and tourism development of our communities. Certainly, the experience gained will be of great use in implementing future projects.
