MOLDOVA REGIONAL ECONOMIC FORUM
July 4 – 6, 2024
Vatra Dornei’s Băilor Casino
THEME: “Planning and Cooperation on the Strategic Objective: Moldova 2030”
The main objective of the Forum is to ensure the necessary conditions for “Planning and Cooperation on the Strategic Objective: Moldova 2030”.
“FERM creates the necessary conditions for collaboration aimed at the strategic development of the Extended Region of MOLDOVA based on the preparation by 2030 of a Common Collaboration Platform built between the institutional and private sectors on both sides of the Prut River with unified, proportionate, and equal involvement of public administration, the private sector, institutional sectors in education and health, as well as civil society throughout Moldova from the mountains of Vatra Dornei to the Soroca Fortress on the Dniester River, and of course, considering our brothers from Ukraine”, said Ion ȘTEFANOVICI, President of the Center for Regional Development Analysis and Planning (C.A.P.D.R.), organizer of the event.
Brief History of the Moldova Regional Economic Forum
The event format dedicated to the development of the North-East Region of Romania with a focus on investments is not new. The Investment Forum was organized since 2003 by specialists from the North-East Regional Development Agency (ADR NE) covering the six counties within the ADR NE.
The event was interrupted from 2020 to 2022 due to the pandemic, but it was resumed and continued in a new format starting in 2023 by the Center for Regional Development Analysis and Planning (C.A.P.D.R.). Therefore, the 2023 edition was organized in Iași in a redefined format, 20 years after the first edition, by inviting the Republic of Moldova at the suggestion of the CAPDR President, Ion ȘTEFANOVICI. This marked the establishment of Action Direction I: Republic of Moldova.
In 2024, FERM continues and strengthens the line of collaboration within the Extended Region of Moldova by initiating Direction II: Ukraine.
The Ukrainian delegation expected at FERM includes 40 representatives from the private sector and public administration from various regions of Ukraine located near Romania. The Ukrainian delegation was organized through the Regional Office for Cross-Border Cooperation in Suceava, with the direct and efficient involvement of Mr. Cezar GROZAVU, the director.
Direction III: EASTERN EUROPE is based on initiating collaborative relationships with diplomatic representatives from Eastern European countries. Invitations to renew collaborative relationships in the economic context have also been extended to countries with which Romania has had strong economic relations over the past 50 to 60 years. We were pleased to note a great openness from foreign diplomatic representatives who are active in Bucharest, some of whom also have dual roles in the Republic of Moldova.
