Interview with Răzvan VULCĂNESCU, President of PALMED, in the context of FERM 2025: “It is time to speak with one voice for the future of healthcare in the region”

Mesaje publice

Present at the Regional Economic Forum Moldova 2025, the President of the Private Healthcare Services Providers Association (PALMED), Răzvan Vulcănescu, issued a strong call for solidarity and coherence in the vision of the actors involved in the healthcare system.

In a context marked by uncertainty and lack of predictability, the PALMED leader emphasized the need for a unified and responsible voice from private providers and associations in the face of the challenges confronting the Romanian healthcare system.

Private sector representatives – actively engaged in regional dialogue

Răzvan Vulcănescu attended FERM 2025 as the President of PALMED, alongside Roman Boca, PALMED Vice President and founder of Dorna Medical. The participation of these two leaders of the private medical sector had a dual significance: representing the interests of private healthcare service providers and contributing to an open dialogue on the future of healthcare in the wider Moldova region.

„I am attending this forum precisely to represent the association of private healthcare service providers, alongside Mr. Boca, who is also a national Vice President. We are part of the larger confederation IMM-Romania, which was also present at the openings of this forum”

PALMED’s participation at FERM was not merely formal; it aimed at a constructive intervention in the drafting of the forum’s position document – a strategic effort through which the event seeks to influence public policies in key areas essential for regional development.

A strategic framework for reflection and action

The President of PALMED appreciated the quality of the event’s organization and the diversity of actors involved in the thematic panels.

„I want to extend greetings and appreciation to the organizers for the way it was organized, and to all those who were and are present on the various panels, precisely to try together to provoke discussions and generate ideas with which to contribute to this position document”

From PALMED’s perspective, the private sector’s contribution to this document is essential for formulating a common vision on healthcare, in correlation with other systems – social, economic, administrative – undergoing transformation at the regional level.

The need for coherence and predictability

In a lucid speech, Răzvan Vulcănescu drew attention to the current challenging context in which the healthcare system operates.

„It is a very uncertain period, unfortunately lacking predictability”

In the face of this instability, he emphasized the dual imperative of responsibility: on one hand, providers must commit to the proper functioning of the system, and on the other, the system’s expectations of these providers must be clearly defined.

„On one hand, we need to understand what contribution and commitment we must bring to the smooth operation of this system. On the other hand, the expectations of the system must be understood, as we know them from each provider we represent,” emphasized the President of PALMED.

A call for unity: “Let’s speak with one voice”

Perhaps the most important message delivered by Vulcănescu concerned the need for genuine cohesion within associations and the private medical sector, in the face of shared challenges. Instead of a fragmented approach, he advocates for active and coordinated participation in building a healthy and sustainable vision.

„My invitation to everyone is to consider how each of us can participate, but also how we can stand together with a single voice within this association”

This is a call for solidarity, professionalism, and collective vision – essential values for ensuring that the voice of the private medical sector truly matters in public health policy.

Conclusion

Răzvan Vulcănescu’s intervention at FERM 2025 represented more than a mere institutional presence. It reaffirmed the role that private healthcare service providers can and must play in regional development architecture. Beyond the differences between the public and private sectors, the central message remains valid: only through dialogue, coherence, and shared responsibility can a sustainable healthcare system be built, adapted to the real needs of the region.
